DETOUR 2014 @ PMQ

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend DETOUR 2014's launch at the PMQ, previously Police Married Quarters on Hollywood Road (go check the place out, it has a ton to offer). This concurrent event held by the Business of Design Week is basically a hub for creativity and anything unique in the Arts, giving an opportunity for young, emerging designers across the globe to bring their ideas to Hong Kong. It's inspiring and comforting in a way, to see how the art scene in Hong Kong is growing with the help of great locations like PMQ, for art to reach out to more people. In such a busy place like the city I live in, having a chance to be still and appreciate art can have a distilling effect on our body and mind. And being in my last year of high school, I can say that we definitely need more moments like this. This idea fits perfectly with DETOUR 2014's "co-creation" theme, that aimed to "liberate people from their hectic urban life by offering them a precious pause". A precious pause indeed.

Here were some of the beautiful things I saw and experienced:

P.S. I'm half embarrassed and ashamed of myself for only getting around to posting this now because the exhibition actually ended two days ago (despite there still being satellite events going on around HK). So if you're interested, definitely put next year's DETOUR exhibition on your 2015 bucket list of things to see and do (if you don't have one, you should make one). Check them out here for all the exciting things they did this year.
